In Summer 2022, the Théâtre populaire d'Acadie comes back with the presentation of Belles-Sœurs, a musical theatre, for twenty performances, from July 20 to August 12, at the Centre culturel de Caraquet.
Germaine Lauzon, a housewife from the Plateau Mont-Royal, wins a million trading stamps and suddenly sees her life completely turned upside down. She invites her sisters and neighbors to a MUSICAL stamp-gluing vigil !
Belles-Sœurs was born in Quebec in 2010, thanks to the collaboration of three important artists of the Quebec cultural landscape: director René Richard Cyr, songwriter Daniel Bélanger and the playwright and novelist Michel Tremblay. Inspired by Les Belles-Sœurs, a classic by Michel Tremblay, René Richard Cyr and Daniel Bélanger have created a powerful musical version that wonderfully depicts the sixties in Quebec in working-class families. Since its premiere in Montreal in March 2010 by the Centre du Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui and the Centre culturel de Joliette in collaboration with Loto-Québec, Belles-Sœurs has been presented 267 times, including 23 performances in Paris, always creating the same enthusiasm with the public.
